Shirley MacLaine, John Tracey, George Christy

In this April 1995 episode of The Dini Petty Show, Shirley MacLaine sits down with Dini Petty to discuss her memoir, My Lucky Stars, and defends what she calls the "eloquent depravity" of Hollywood. She talks through the leg-licking scene with Jack Nicholson in Terms of Endearment and the tension between her and Debra Winger.

The conversation turns personal as MacLaine describes discovering that her husband, Steve Parker, had stolen $20 million from her, and explains the spiritual lesson that led her to walk away without a lawsuit. She also shares stories of five-hour phone calls with Barbra Streisand, a late-night encounter at the Kennedy compound she chose to make public, the bond she formed with the women of Steel Magnolias, and a three-day wait for Robert Mitchum that taught her a rule she never broke again.

John Tracey and George Christy also appear in this broadcast. The complete episode can be licensed from the Dini Petty Show archive for broadcast, documentary and research use; add it to your quote request to get started.
