Eagle Eye Cherry, David Crosby & More

In this March 1999 episode of The Dini Petty Show, David Crosby sits down for a candid conversation at 57, five years sober after a liver transplant. The founding member of The Byrds and Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young talks about his band CPR and the CSNY reunion album Looking Forward, which began when Neil Young walked into the studio unannounced.

Crosby tells the story of his son, James Raymond, whom he gave up for adoption in the 1960s. As Crosby lay in a hospital bed, a letter revealed that James had grown up to become a classically trained musician, and the two went on to form CPR together. He speaks plainly about heroin and freebasing cocaine, calling himself an ignorant kid handed millions of dollars. He credits his wife, Jan, with standing by him all the way to a prison cell and back. He also recalls guitarist Michael Hedges and declares that "music is the most fun you can have with your clothes on."
